The Library
The Library has witnessed a fascinating evolution over the years, serving as a reflection of Ellinwood’s changing times. It now is set up as a library adorned with classic books and even local library cards to honor the first public library that was housed next door. This space was the children's library during that period.
The original library was next door where the Underground Saloon is now.
From 1940 to the 1960s, the Ellinwood Public Library was housed in the space that is now the Underground Saloon. The area now known as the Library or Game Room once served as the children's section of the library, where young readers discovered their love for books.
To honor this rich history, the space still holds pieces of its past—original library cards, past due notices, books from the era, and even a historic map of Ellinwood, preserving the memory of a time when knowledge thrived beneath the streets.
